Khammam: District Collector VP Gautham has directed the health and revenue officials to take strict measures to contain the spread of Covid-19 in rural areas.
The Collector inspected Subledu and Kakaravai villages in Tirumalayapalem mandal in the district on Thursday. He visited an isolation centre at Kakaravai village and residence of Covid patients and interacted with them.
Gautham asked the elected representatives and village level officials to educate villagers on the importance of wearing face masks and maintaining physical distance to stop the spread of Covid. Those violating Covid norms have to be penalised, he said.
ASHAs and ANMs have to conduct health checkups regularly while gram panchayat officials and local elected members have to look after the maintenance of isolation centres. Those tested positive to Covid-19 have to report to health workers if they have any health issues, he suggested.
The Collector also visited the Government District Headquarters Hospital and inspected Covid ward, RTPCR Centre, Telangana Diagnostic Centre, operation theatre and other facilities at the hospital. He also interacted with the patients.
The hospital superintendent, Dr B Venkateshwarlu explained the medical facilities available at the hospital to the Collector. Gautham wanted the hospital authorities to take steps to ensure all types of medical services available to patients.
