Khammam: Telangana Rythu Sangham has demanded the State government to immediately release paddy bonus worth Rs 64.41 crore pending to be paid to the farmers in Khammam district.
The sangham leaders staged a protest at Wyra tahsildar office in the district on Friday demanding completion of loan waiver process and release of paddy bonus. Speaking on the occasion the sangham district secretary Bonthu Rambabu said that the bonus announced for fine variety paddy has not been deposited in the bank accounts of the farmers for the last two months.
In Khammam district, as many as 23,244 farmers were waiting for Rs 64.41 crore paddy bonus amounts due to them. In Wyra mandal alone nearly 3,115 farmers have to be paid Rs 9.45 crore. Farmers were making rounds to the banks every day, but in vain, he complained.
The Congress ministers were repeatedly making announcements that Rythu Bharosa was provided to the farmers having within three acres of land. But the farmers were complaining that the Rythu Bharosa amount was deposited in their bank accounts for one kunta of land if they have one acre of land and for two kuntas of land if they two acres of land, Rambabu said.
There was no one to answer the farmers when they visited the revenue and agriculture offices to find out whether their land area was in the government records or not. Similarly, the crop loan waiver was not completed even for farmers who availed a loan less than Rs 2 lakh while those availed loan over Rs 2 lakh were yet not get loan waiver.
The State government should make a clear announcement on the paddy bonus, Rythu Bharosa, and crop loan waiver. The cash transfer schemes announced by the government were causing difficulties to the farmers, Rambabu noted.
The sangham Wyra town secretary Chintanippu Chalapathi Rao, district committee member B Srinivasa Rao, Wyra mandal president Meda Sarabandhi and others were present.
