ZP Chairman, L Kamalraj inspected BT road works in Madhira mandal in Khammam district on Friday.
Khammam: The TRS government has been making committed efforts to strengthen the road network in rural areas, stated the Zilla Parishad Chairman, Lingala Kamalraj.
He inspected road works undertaken with an expenditure of Rs 8 crore on Dendukuru to Maturpeta stretch in Madhira mandal of Khammam district, on Friday. He distributed Rs 5.24 lakh worth CMRF cheques to beneficiaries.
Speaking to media persons on the occasion, he said the government has planned to improve rural roads for the convenience of villagers, especially the farmers as better roads would make transportation of agricultural produce easy.
The State Government has in 2019 laid focus on developing the rural road infrastructure with an estimated cost of Rs 3,000 crore. It was aimed to ensure two-lane connectivity to all the mandal headquarters and important market centres, Kamalraj said.
The existing roads in the district were being repaired wherever required besides laying black tapping on the roads, which would help smooth and speedy commuting, the ZP Chairman noted.
Later, Kamalraj, along with the ZP CEO, Ch Priyanka held a meeting to review Palle Pragathi works in five mandals of Madhira Assembly constituency. He asked the officials to be ready for the launch of the second phase of Palle Pragathi and chalk out plans for the programme.
Priority has to be given to sanitation and hygiene in the villages to prevent spread of seasonal diseases. Dumping yards and Vaikunta Dhamams have to be brought into use soon after their completion. Any laxity in Palle Pragathi implementation would be dealt with seriously, Kamalraj warned.
Deputy CEO, Sri Ram, DRDA PD, Vidyachandana and others were present.
