Khammam: For seasoned offenders, there is no stopping a crime, not even a police station can deter them, if an incident that took place at Mudigonda police station is any indication.
A motorcycle which was seized by police on April 4 and parked at Mudigonda police station in the district went missing from the station after a few days. A constable tried to stop two persons riding on the bike and they abandoned it before running away.
There was a lot of speculation on social media platforms after the incident came to light and some even suspected the role of police in the bike’s disappearance. Khammam Rural police, who launched an investigation to find the missing bike, arrested two persons on Wednesday.
ACP (Rural) Venkat Reddy, in a statement, said that based on a tip off, two habitual offenders, S Nageswar Rao and Venkatesh of Nachepalli in Nelakondapalli mandal, were questioned. During the interrogation, they confessed to the police that they had lifted the bike from the police station and that they had lifted the same bike (latest model of Bajaj pulsar) at Hayathnagar in Hyderabad in March.
The accused are tractor drivers and used to visit Mudigonda police station where tractors seized in illegal sand transportation cases are parked. During their visits to the police station, they spotted the bike and lifted it from the rear side of the police station, the ACP said.
The duo was also involved in two bike theft cases at Boduppal and Vanasthalipuram police stations, he added.
