The campaign will promote protection from Covid-19 in rural parts of the State and also create awareness on early detection of breast cancer through ‘pink’ coloured cloth masks, a colour that represents breast cancer awareness.
About 20, 000 masks have already been distributed to residents in ten villages in Narayanraopet mandal including Narayanaraopet, Ibrahimpur, Banjerpalli, Kodhandaraopalli, Laxmidevipalli, Malyala, Gurralagondhi, Jakkapur, Gopulapur, Matindla, said Director, UBCF, Dr P. Raghu Ram.
The pink masks were prepared by 100 members of Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP), a Self Help Group (SHG) from Nandigama. “There is a need to make the rural population aware of Covid infections. Through this unique preventive campaign, we are trying to actively encourage people from rural areas to wear a mask,” Dr Raghu Ram said.
