Hyderabad: Leading children’s apparel manufacturer Kitex Garments has commenced commercial production at its new unit in the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP), Warangal, marking a major boost to Telangana’s industrial sector. BRS working president and former Industries Minister KT Rama Rao termed it as a historic milestone.

Sharing the news on X on Tuesday, Rama Rao recalled his initial discussions with Kitex chairman Sabu Jacob during the pandemic.

“This news made my day. I vividly remember those initial WhatsApp exchanges with Mr. Sabu Jacob, when the pandemic was raging across the globe. Today, seeing Kitex commence commercial production in Warangal feels truly special,” he posted on X.

Wishing the company and its employees on the occassion, he said the unit was providing jobs to hundreds of Telangana youngsters.

The former Minister credited former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s vision and the Telangana’s industrial policies for attracting the Kerala-based textile giant to Telangana. He said the KMTP, the largest textile park in the country, stood as an example of the State’s progressive governance.

The Kitex Warangal unit is set to produce 1.1 million children’s garments per day, with plans to expand beyond its US-centric market to the UK and Russia. Kitex has also laid the foundation for another large unit at Sitarampur near Hyderabad, with a production capacity on par with Warangal.
