Hyderabad: Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy has once again taken a critical stand on the Indiramma housing scheme, alleging that government-imposed conditions were preventing the scheme from reaching its intended beneficiaries.
Speaking at his camp office in Munugode on Wednesday, where he distributed Indiramma house sanction proceedings and ration cards, Rajgopal Reddy said many genuine poor families were being excluded from the housing scheme for minor reasons.
“The rules set by the government are acting as hurdles instead of enabling support. There is a need to revise these norms to make the scheme accessible to all deserving families,” he said.
He further added that if the benefits were diverted to middlemen instead of the poor, it would be unacceptable. “Only the genuinely eligible must benefit, not brokers,” he said.
This is not the first time Rajgopal Reddy has raised objections about the scheme. He had earlier stated in an interview with a television channel that the government’s financial support of Rs. 5 lakh under the Indiramma scheme was insufficient.
“Unless the assistance is increased to at least Rs. 7.5 lakh, it is impossible for the poor to build proper houses,” he had said.
Rajgopal Reddy had also strongly objected to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s recent claim that he would remain CM for ten years, stating that any attempt to convert the Congress party into a personal fiefdom would not be tolerated.
