Khammam: Kothagudem District Employment Officer Velpula Vijetha extended financial assistance to two para-athletes to help them participate in the wheelchair T-20 cricket tournament.
The wheelchair cricketers, Bandla Ramu and J Suresh of Khammam have been selected to represent Telangana in T-20 Wheelchair Cricket Cup 2021 to be held in Mumbai in Maharashtra on Dec 2 and 3.
The event is being organised by Divyang Wheelchair Cricket Association marking ‘World Disability Day’. Teams from Telangana and Maharashtra will compete in the tournament, the officer said.
Vijetha who learnt about the players’ selection for the tournament, handed over Rs 10, 000 towards their expenses to attend the Mumbai event, at her residence in Khammam on Tuesday.
The officer wished the players good luck and to excel in the tournament to bring fame to Khammam district. Ramu and Suresh thanked the officer for her kind gesture saying it boosted their morale to perform well in the cricket tournament.
