Kothagudem: A 20-year-old girl has lodged a complaint with two town police accusing her brother and cousin of sexually abusing her for the past 12 years.

The girl, a resident of three-incline area here, in the complaint to the police, said her 25-year-old brother, an SCCL rescue wing employee and her cousin, a software engineer repeatedly raped her.

The matter of sexual abuse was taken to the notice of her mother and elders but they refused to take action, she alleged stating that her mother, aunt and uncle were accessories in the crime committed by her sibling and her cousin.

“In addition, they admonished me for complaining about my brother and cousin and told me to cooperate with them stating that such kind of relations were normal these days,” the girl said in the complaint.

“I have been suffering this torture since I was a second standard student. They subjected me to physical torture. Now I have lost patience and can’t bear the torment. My family members even threatened me with dire consequences if I approached the police,” she said.

With the help of her friends and a college lecturer, she lodged the complaint on Tuesday night. The two town Inspector of Police B Satyanarayana booked a case against the five accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other sections.

Meanwhile, one of the accused allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence at Nehru Nagar in Ramavaram on Wednesday. In a telephone call record leaked to the media, he confessed to the victim that he was guilty of what he did to her.

The victim’s father, an SCCL employee, deserted the family when she was a child. The victim who completed intermediate, is now preparing for a medical entrance examination. She was lodged at Sakhi Centre at Babu camp area in Kothagudem.
