Kothagudem: Upset at bad condition of 2BHK houses, beneficiaries return keys to officials

Revenue officers on Saturday allocated houses to residents of Ayyappa Colony and Kotha Colony, who were affected by the Godavari floods, as well as to persons with disabilities and cancer patients. The allotment took place at the local tahsildar's office, covering housing at AMC Colony and Manubothula Cheruvu in the town.

Kothagudem: Some of the beneficiaries who were allotted double bedroom houses in Bhadrachalam town in the district staged a protest over the allotment of houses that were in bad condition.

The revenue officers allotted houses to the residents of Godavari flood affected Ayyappa Colony and Kotha Colony along with persons with disabilities and cancer patients at AMC Colony and Manubothula Cheruvu in the town on Saturday at the local tahsildar office. As many as 111 double bedroom houses were distributed to the beneficiaries by tahsildar Srinivas Rao. However, around 20 beneficiaries of the 50 beneficiaries of Ayyappa Colony, which was located near Godavari karakatta, returned the house keys given to them to the officials complaining that the houses allotted to them were in dilapidated condition.

The protesting beneficiaries were given houses at Manabothula Cheruvu on the outskirts of the town close to the Andhra Pradesh border. They alleged that the officials concerned came under political influence in allotting the houses and allotted them dilapidated houses.
