Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao lashed out at the Congress government, for conducting a flawed caste census that reduced the population count of Backward Classes (BCs) and caused severe distress to the community. He demanded that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy issue an unconditional apology to BCs for misleading the community and the Assembly by presenting incomplete data in the House.
Welcoming the State government’s decision to conduct another round of the caste census, Rama Rao said it was an admission of the Congress government’s failure.
“The Congress government ignored repeated objections from BRS and BC organisations. Passing a resolution in the Assembly based on faulty calculations is a grave mistake,” he said.
He insisted that local body elections must be postponed until a fresh and comprehensive re-survey was conducted, ensuring 42 per cent reservations for BCs legally. He charged the Congress with attempting to wash its hands of the issue by merely passing a resolution and shifting responsibility to the Centre.
In a post on X, the BRS working president warned that BRS and BC organisations would not accept such tactics. He reminded the Congress that BCs in Telangana would not trust the party unless it fully honours the commitments made in the Kamareddy BC Declaration.
