Speaking at the inaugural of the facility, the Minister said that as per the aspirations of the Chief Minister, K.Chandrashekar Rao to provide good environment to the citizens, the GHMC has developed 17 theme parks in the city.

Hyderabad: A Panchatatva Park with walkway based on the concept of Accupressure was inaugurated by the MA&UD Minister, KT Rama Rao at Indira Park here on Sunday.
Speaking at the inaugural of the facility, the Minister said that as per the aspirations of the Chief Minister, K.Chandrashekar Rao to provide good environment to the citizens, the GHMC has developed 17 theme parks in the city.
The Panchatatva Park which was developed at a cost of Rs.17 lakhs at the Indira Park has cross-walk, infinity walk, Yoga shed, ‘Raasi Vanam’, open gym and herbal plants, and has facilities for different age groups, he said. There is also a proposal to provide one more open gym as about 6,500 to 6,800 were visiting indira Park.
The GHMC has taken development of parks in a big way in the city and these include development of 300 tree parks 50 theme based parks.

The Accupressure concept walkway is developed based on the five elements of the nature (Panchabhutas) — Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether, each of which have own character and celestial elements.
The Panchatatva walk is a circular track developed using eight components to walk over and these include 20mm stone, 10mm stone, 6mm chips, river stone, rough sand, tree bark, black soil and water. The walking will be done from very hard surface to smooth and relaxing component by which the blood circulation in the body improves curing several ailments of the body. This also helps the senior citizens and persons who have knee joint pains and cannot walk for longer distances.
The inner circle is divided in to nine segments and plants corresponding to Navagrahas are planted along with varieties of herbal plants in the boxes which makes people feel they are doing parikramas around the Navagrahas.
Further, around the track plants related to zodiac signs and nakshatras are planted.
Green drive yields results
Sustained efforts in the last six years to increase Hyderabad’s green cover and also create a series of green islands across the city have started to yield positive results.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has developed 19 major parks with each having more than five acres in extent apart from 17 theme parks with varying themes such as Palmetum, Ficus, Bougainvilleas, Herbal and Bamboos.
The civic body which has been vigorously involved in creating more green spaces for the citizens has identified 3,091 open spaces with an area of 1,760 acres. Out of these, 1,258 open spaces with an area of 578 acres were occupied by play grounds, community halls, graveyards and temples.
In the remaining open spaces, 919 colony parks were developed with an area of 727 acres which are under regular maintenance of GHMC either through contractors or colony welfare associations. Further, 327 tree parks with an area of 179 acres were proposed for gap filling with plants. In the unmaintained 587 open spaces in 276 acres, 83 parks are being developed as theme parks and colony parks.
Another 50 major theme parks are being developed in all zones with a financial outlay of Rs 134.23 crore during 2020-21. These theme parks will be made available from this year-end in a phased manner.

Three urban forest parks
GHMC is developing three urban forest parks in the forest blocks around Hyderabad city at Suraram (455 hectares), Madannaguda (97 hectares), and Nadergul (43 hectares) with an financial outlay of Rs 17.75 crore. The officials said said these urban forest parks which are to be completed by the year-end will act as urban lung spaces.
Very dense plantations were being taken up in these reserve forest blocks and Yadadri Natural Forest Model (Miyawaki) plantations are also taken up. While fencing work is completed in Madannaguda and Nadergul reserve forest blocks, work is in progress for Gajula Ramaram reserve forest blocks.
Rejuvenation of these forests also include an exclusive visitors zone with amenities such as gazebos, Yoga area, walking and cycling tracks, picnic areas, children play area and adventure zone.
Haritha Haram: 250L plants target for 2020
As part of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s flagship programme Telangana Ku Haritha Haram, GHMC has been taking up tree plantation under various categories like avenue plantations, colony plantations, institutional plantations, open space plantations and grave yard plantations.
For the year 2020, a target of 250 lakh plants has been fixed and as on November 10, a target of 208.88 lakh (83.55 per cent) has been achieved.
The plantations were taken up in 405 layout open spaces and are being converted into tree parks with walking tracks and seating areas. At 65 locations, dense plantations on the lines of Miyawaki plantations are taken up. Also, in a major initiative, 500 nurseries are being grounded this month to supply plants for Haritha Haram programme.
Also, the GHMC Act was amended with 10 per cent of the total budget earmarked for development of greenery in GHMC area and accordingly, Green Budget has been provided in the estimates.
