Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Monday welcomed the Supreme Court’s interim order on the Waqf Amendment Act 2025, calling it a crucial step in safeguarding the nation’s communal harmony. He said the BRS has consistently opposed the contentious provisions of the Act, which under the guise of progressiveness, propagated polarisation and threatened the communal harmony of the nation.
“How can one decide who is a Muslim, or allow a government official to arbitrarily determine ownership of Waqf properties? These clauses were designed to divide, not unite,” he remarked, adding that numerous such issues were included in the Act to fuel divisive politics.
In a statement, Rama Rao recalled that the BRS fought vigorously in the Rajya Sabha against the Act and will continue to fight for the values of a strong and united nation. “For BRS, this nation is more important than politics. We believe in a strong and united India,” he stressed.
The BRS leader reiterated the party’s commitment to minorities, and reminded that under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s leadership, Telangana witnessed unprecedented minority welfare measures, from Shaadi Mubarak to Ramzan Tofa. He said the BRS government ensured communal peace for a decade.
“We will continue to protect the communal fabric of this country and fight those who try to tear it apart for their twisted political gain,” he declared, assuring that BRS will continue to uphold the values of the Constitution of India.
