If the public’s anger against the government was used properly, BRS would definitely win the Khammam and Kothagudem Zilla Parishads, says KTR.
Khammam: BRS working president KT Rama Rao has called on the party workers to get ready for the local body elections and work hard to win the elections.
The party cadres should organise meetings at the village- and mandal-level, and expose the failures of the Congress government. The party would provide material.
Till now, activists have worked hard for the party; and it was time for the leaders to work hard for the cadres to get them elected as members of MPTCs, ZPTCs, councillors and corporators, he said.
Speaking at the party workers meeting here on Friday, Rama Rao complained that the Congress has deceived every section in Telangana. That was why the people were ready to teach a lesson to the Congress in the upcoming elections. The BRS should show its strength in the local body elections.
If the public’s anger against the government was used properly, BRS would definitely win the Khammam and Kothagudem Zilla Parishads. The Congress made tall promises to the Khammam people, who gave nine seats to the party in the district, but it could not fulfil a single promise.
The Congress leadership was under the illusion that it would win by distributing money. The people should give the message from the erstwhile Khammam district that everyone has to bow down before the people’s power, he noted.
The three Ministers in Khammam district were neglecting public issues. One Minister was busy creating sensation, while the other was involved in commission scams. Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao was in a perplexed state while farmers suffered due to lack of fertilisers and seeds, Rama Rao added.
Coming down heavily on the Congress for the violence and goondaism unleashed by its leaders in Malkajgiri, KT Rama Rao strongly criticized the ruling party for disrupting peace in Hyderabad, particularly in Malkajgiri.
Later speaking to the media after visiting injured BRS corporators and leaders in Malkajgiri, he recalled that during the BRS’s rule under former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao , Hyderabad never faced law and order issues.
“When KCR was CM, Hyderabad was peaceful. Despite propaganda that a separate Telangana would lead to Naxalite problems and conflicts, no such issues arose under BRS rule,” he said. He added that Hyderabad developed as a model city for the country, free from rowdyism and goonda activities.
The BRS leader pointed out that Hyderabad’s people rewarded the party for its development and peace with massive victories in the 2018 and 2023 elections.
In the 2017 Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections, BRS won 99 seats, and in 2020, the party retained control of the GHMC. He claimed that the Congress, upset over failing to win a single seat in Hyderabad, is now targeting the city’s residents out of frustration. He alleged that Congress leaders, along with their supporters, attacked BRS corporators and leaders during a religious event in Malkajgiri.
He specifically mentioned an assault on corporator Sabitamma, who was injured in the attack. “Is this the kind of politics Congress wants? Is this what Hyderabad’s people expect from them?” he asked.
He further accused the police of acting as “puppets” of the Congress government, filing seven FIRs against BRS leaders like Ramu Yadav, Jagadish Goud, and Chinna Yadav, while failing to take action against Congress supporters who attacked BRS members.
“Power is not permanent. Our time will come again, and we are noting down the names of officials acting like Congress’s slaves. They will face consequences,” he warned.
He challenged the Congress to focus on developing Hyderabad and winning people’s trust instead of indulging in “cheap politics” and goondaism. KTR emphasised that Malkajgiri’s MLA, Marri Rajasekhar Reddy, and corporators belong to BRS, and the party enjoys strong public support.
“Malkajgiri has educated residents from across India working in industries, military, and central government institutions. They condemn this goondaism by Congress,” he said.
He assured BRS leaders in Malkajgiri that the entire party stands behind them. “If anyone is attacked, the whole state party will come to Malkajgiri. The DGP and Chief Minister will be responsible for what happens next,” he declared. He also vowed to raise the issue in the Assembly and meet the DGP to demand action against biased policing.
K T Rama Rao challenged the Congress to show what they have achieved for Hyderabad. “We can list what we did in 10 years. Can you show what you’ve done? If you think you can scare us with goondaism, Revanth Reddy and his supporters will face the consequences,” he warned.
The BRS leader reaffirmed the party’s support for Malkajgiri MLA Marri Rajasekhar Reddy, who won with a 50,000-vote majority, and urged party workers to continue their fight against the government.
“The people are with us. There’s no need to fear anyone. One phone call, and the entire party will stand with you,” he assured.
