BRS working president KT Rama Rao launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing him of dictatorial governance, corruption, and vendetta politics. From the Group-1 exam fiasco and altered Ring Road alignment to the Hyderabad Metro crisis and law and order failures, KTR painted a grim picture of Telangana under Congress rule.
Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao launched a blistering attack on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, stating that he was running Telangana with dictatorial arrogance, corrupt intent and no vision. The State had slipped into chaos, with youth, farmers and ordinary citizens hitting the streets for justice.
In an informal interaction with the media at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday, Rama Rao took a dig at the Congress, stating that the Revanth Reddy government was surviving on media management, rather than governance. He suggested that the Congress should replace its ‘Hand’ symbol with a bulldozer.
“This regime is not building anything. Instead, it is demolishing institutions, hopes, and also people’s faith,” he said, adding that Telangana would soon give its verdict against the corrupt and dictatorial Congress regime.
Educational institutions were threatening to close over delayed fee reimbursement, hospitals had stopped services under Aarogyasri due to pending bills, and protests by ASHA workers and ration dealers continued unabated.
“Name one achievement of this Chief Minister since taking office. There is none,” he stated.
Group-1 Fiasco
The BRS working president said students preparing for Group-1 exams were unable to hold even peaceful round-table meetings. “When youth cannot gather to discuss their future, what does it say about democracy in Telangana? This is dictatorship in its purest form,” he said, warning that the Chief Minister had meddled with the youth and it would be his downfall.
Stating that the government had antagonised the youth with its Group-1 Main exam fiasco, he pointed out that job aspirants themselves had alleged that jobs were sold for Rs. 3 crore each. He questioned the BJP’s silence, stating that the party that once demanded CBI probes into leaks during the BRS regime, is now complicit.
Regional Ring Road (RRR) Row
Rama Rao said the Congress government had altered the Regional Ring Road (RRR) alignment to protect lands of Revanth Reddy and Jaipal Reddy’s families. Thousands of farmers who own lands were at risk of losing their lands and livelihood, he said, criticising the government that claimed to have no funds for welfare schemes, is ready to acquire land to execute such an expensive project by altering the alignment. Cancellation of the Airport Expressway, which required no land acquisition, had derailed IT expansion.
Countering Revanth Reddy’s claim of running a government free of dynasty politics, the former Minister pointed to contracts worth crores awarded to the Chief Minister’s relatives Sujan Reddy and Amit Reddy.
“If this is not nepotism, what is? The Chief Minister’s only job appears to be collecting commissions and sending them to Delhi,” he remarked.
L&T Exit
Pointing to the Hyderabad Metro Rail crisis, Rama Rao said L&T’s decision to exit the project was directly linked to harassment and extortion by the Chief Minister.
“When the CFO of a global firm is threatened with jail, why would investors stay here? This government has destroyed Telangana’s business climate,” he charged, adding that such tactics would not only scare away companies but also damage Hyderabad’s hard-won reputation as an investment hub.
He stated that Revanth Reddy was planning to sell the properties of the controversial Emaar properties worth hundreds of crores. He also criticised the fact that instead of repairing the Medigadda barrage and running the pumps to lift water, the government abandoned the task.
Hyderabad’s Law and Order
Turning to law and order, Rama Rao said Telangana had now become the country’s second-largest hub for drugs. “When drugs worth Rs.12,000 crore are seized, the Chief Minister has no information. Instead, we get gimmicks like HYDRAA and EAGLE teams. What has HYDRAA achieved? Hyderabad still floods every monsoon,” he said.
He slammed the Chief Minister’s silence on the recent murders of two girls in Hyderabad. “Revanth Reddy holds the Home portfolio, yet he does not even react. Law and order has collapsed,” he said.
Defections and By-Elections
On MLA defections, the BRS leader said they were caught between the devil and deep sea. He challenged the Congress to hold by-polls immediately, if its governance was really strong. He indicated that in the coming year, Telangana would see a series of local body elections, GHMC elections and by-elections, but the Congress was so weak that it may not even conduct local body polls.
On new political parties, he welcomed them, stating that in democracy, everyone had the right to form a political party and have their voice heard.
The BRS leader criticised the Chief Minister for targeting Sircilla BRS leaders out of personal grudge. “The handloom industry of Sircilla, built over decades, has been crippled. Weavers’ livelihoods are being destroyed simply to settle scores,” he said.
He said by claiming that the BC reservations would be implemented after Rahul Gandhi becomes the Prime Minister, the Congress had deceived people once again. He asked why the same was not conveyed clearly before the elections.
