Hyderabad: In a no-holds-barred attack, BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Thursday termed the Revanth Reddy government as the most corrupt and weakest in Telangana’s history. The Congress has turned Telangana into a mafia fiefdom where Ministers were threatening businessmen with guns, while the police remained mute spectators, he said.
He reminded that the Congress had promised transparent governance within 100 days but delivered only anarchy, intimidation, and corruption. “Officials are terrified, businessmen are threatened, and the State is run by gangs, but not a government,” he said.
Speaking at Telangana Bhavan, Rama Rao said the Congress government was drowning in corruption and lawlessness. “I have never seen such a weak Chief Minister in my political life. Revanth Reddy has completely lost control over his Ministers and his administration,” he said.
Referring to the controversy involving Minister Konda Surekha’s daughter, who accused the Chief Minister of meddling in tenders and sending his aide Rohin Reddy to threaten a businessman, he said, “If Revanth Reddy has any shame left, he should come clean before the people.”
He slammed the Chief Minister for remaining silent over the episode where task force personnel raided Konda Surekha’s residence, only for the Minister herself to escort the accused away.
“This is not governance. Telangana is being run by a Dandupalyam gang,” he said, accusing Ministers of land encroachments, extortion, and running settlement deals from the Chief Minister’s residence.
The BRS working president said senior bureaucrats were quitting service due to political harassment and unethical pressure.
“Honest IAS and IPS officers are taking voluntary retirement as they are being forced to approve illegal activties,” he said.
Despite a honest officer like SAM Rizvi seeking voluntary retirement over political harassment, Minister Jupally Krishna Rao attempted to obstruct it.
Calling the Revanth Reddy Cabinet a den of corruption from villages to the Secretariat, he stated that while Revanth Reddy was earning thousands of crores, Ministers were competing with each other to earn a few hundreds of crores themselves.
Referring to the Manchirevula land controversy, Rama Rao said the Chief Minister, his brother and Minister Konda Surekha were collectively grabbing 30 acres. “Even the Minister’s daughter confirmed threats were made at gunpoint. What message does this send before the Jubilee Hills bypoll?” he asked, accusing the Chief Minister of settling the matter over sweets and shawls with the Minister, without offering an explanation to the people.
The former Minister also tore into the police for inaction. “When a Minister’s daughter accuses the Chief Minister directly aiding people who were threatening businessmen at gun point, what is the DGP doing? The same police who arrest our activists for tweets are protecting Congress leaders,” he charged.
He demanded that the DGP investigate and question Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy and Konda Surekha’s OSD Sumanth and Congress leader Rohin Reddy. He reminded that though Konda Surekha’s daughter and the police narrated different versions of the entire episode, they admitted to use of gun to threaten a businessman, but failed to explain why.
Accusing the BJP of colluding with the Congress in Telangana, Rama Rao said BJP leaders including Union Ministers were silent on the Congress’ misrule and growing gun culture. “BJP and Congress are running a joint venture in Telangana. Even Central agencies have turned a blind eye,” he remarked.
Citing AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge’s recent criticism of the Telangana Congress, he said even Congress’ top leadership could no longer defend Revanth Reddy’s rule. “As an experienced politician, Kharge himself admitted the chaos within and the government’s failures. We thank him for speaking what the people of Telangana already know,” he added.
