KTR criticises Congress for stifling democratic right to protest in Telangana
“Why are the police conducting a long march with full force when there are no elections? Why the warnings and crackdowns on peaceful assemblies when there is no violence? Is this a democracy, or have we entered an era of dictatorship and sanctions?” he questioned, sharing videos of the police march in Mahabubnagar on Thursday via social media.

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao criticised the Congress government for suppressing democratic rights by denying permission for peaceful protests. He questioned the restrictions placed on the BRS’s Maha Dharna in Mahabubabad which has been postponed now, describing the government’s actions as reflective of a totalitarian regime.
“Why are police holding a long march in full force when there are no elections? What is the need for such warnings and crackdowns on peaceful assemblies when there is no violence? Is this democracy, or have we entered an era of dictatorship and sanctions?” he asked, sharing videos of the police long march in Mahabubabad on Thursday on social media.
Terming the Congress’s approach as oppressive, Rama Rao warned Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy against continuing with such tactics. “This is Telangana. The more you suppress, the stronger the rebellion will be,” he warned.
In another post on X, he took a dig at Revanth Reddy for repeatedly trying to invite former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao during his speech. “Let alone facing Chandrashekhar Rao in the Assembly, you don’t even have courage to allow the BRS’s Maha Dharna in Mahabubabad,” he said.
