KTR dares Revanth to dissolve Assembly, seek fresh mandate

BRS working president KT Rama Rao challenged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to dissolve the Telangana Assembly and seek a fresh mandate. He also demanded by-elections for defected MLAs and accused the Chief Minister of colluding with the BJP.

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Friday challenged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to dissolve the Telangana Assembly and seek a fresh mandate from the people if he was confident of retaining power.

Responding to the Chief Minister’s claims of continuing in the post till 2034, Rama Rao said Revanth Reddy was indulging in propaganda and making false allegations to remain in office. “If he is confident about continuing in power, let him dissolve the Assembly and face elections. We are ready,” he said.

If the Chief Minister was unwilling to dissolve the Assembly, he demanded that the nine MLAs who defected to the Congress resign and face by-elections.

Rama Rao stated that Revanth Reddy had become Chief Minister through a management quota rather than through a direct public mandate. Questioning the Chief Minister’s political strength, he asked why the Congress could not secure victory in the Mahabubnagar Lok Sabha constituency despite Revanth Reddy leading the party in the State.

Replying to a media query, the BRS working president said Revanth Reddy had colluded with the BJP and hence there was no action against him, despite repeated allegations by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He recalled that while Prime Minister Modi had said RR Tax was being collected in Telangana during his election rally in April 2024, Amit Shah had alleged that Telangana had become an ATM for AICC.

“But there has been no action to date. While Revanth Reddy’s brother-in-law gets contracts under the Centre’s AMRUT scheme, BJP MPs were awarded contracts in State government projects,” he added.
