Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao and senior leader T Harish Rao on Thursday hailed the successful commercial commissioning of the fourth super-critical (800 MW) unit of the Yadadri Thermal power plant, calling it a major milestone in Telangana’s power sector.
In a statement, Rama Rao said the completion of the fourth 800 MW unit of five units marks another victory in former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s long-term effort to end Telangana’s power shortages. With the fourth unit operational, the Yadadri plant now delivers 3,200 MW of power. He congratulated engineers and staff for fulfilling the visionary foundation laid by the former Chief Minister.
Harish Rao termed the 4,000 MW Yadadri project as the largest State-run thermal plant in independent India. He asserted that Chandrashekhar Rao transformed Telangana from a power-deficit state into a power-surplus one and criticised those attempting to erase the BRS chief’s legacy.
He said the Yadadri project stands as an indelible mark of Chandrashekhar Rao’s vision and urged the government to expedite completion of the remaining unit in the interest of farmers and future electricity demand.
