Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao came down heavily on the Congress government over attempts to undermine BRS chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. He asserted that the BRS supremo, who stood strongly against all evil forces, would not be rattled by cheap tactics of political opponents.
Taking to X, Rama Rao recalled that Chandrashekhar Rao had withstood pressure and hardship during the Telangana Statehood movement. He had never cowered under Delhi’s pressure and had remained steadfast throughout the prolonged struggle for a separate State.
“KCR is invincible. Fools cannot understand history, let alone create it,” he said, targeting the Congress leadership.
The BRS working president said political rivals shivered at Chandrashekhar Rao’s name but lacked stature even to take his name. Though they were spewing venom, the former Chief Minister was indestructible.
“KCR is the history of Telangana, and you would not even be a footnote,” he asserted.
BRS Legislature Party deputy leader T Harish Rao accused the Congress government of using the Special Investigation Team (SIT) as a tool for political revenge against Chandrashekhar Rao. The notices issued to the former Chief Minister were not part of a genuine probe but a retaliatory attack driven by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, he said, pointing out that legal procedures and Supreme Court guidelines were ignored as the government focused only on cheap politics.
He questioned whether this was the respect given to a former Chief Minister who led the State for a decade. Calling the Congress government’s actions an insult to democracy, he charged that the SIT was not acting independently, but rather functioning under direct instructions from the Chief Minister’s Office.
Harish Rao stated that the Congress government was targeting the opposition to divert attention from public discontent, unfulfilled promises and scams. He said police overreach, including arrests of BRS leaders and large-scale deployment of personnel, indicated an attempt to intimidate BRS activists and also revealed the fear of the ruling Congress ahead of local body elections.
Despite the Congress government’s actions, he pointed out that as a responsible citizen and Leader of the Opposition, Chandrashekhar Rao was cooperating with the investigation. He warned that the BRS would not remain silent if its leaders and cadre were harassed, asserting that only fearful governments target the opposition.
