KTR launches blistering attack on Revanth Reddy over irrigation, farmer welfare

Hyderabad: In a stinging broadside against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, BRS working president KT Rama Rao said a person who did not even know the origin of the Godavari river was trying to educate BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on irrigation and river waters.

“Save for carrying bags, Revanth Reddy does not know even the origin of River Godavari. In fact, he thinks the Bakhra Nangal dam is in Telangana,” Rama Rao said, adding that it was ridiculous that such a person was trying to lecture Chandrashekhar Rao on irrigation matters.

Speaking after felicitating BRS sarpanches in Jangaon on Tuesday, the BRS working president said the Congress had repeatedly deceived farmers in the State. As part of the Warangal Declaration, the Congress had promised financial assistance of Rs 15,000 per acre under Rythu Bharosa. This assistance was assured to tenant farmers and landowners as well, besides a bonus of Rs 500 for every crop, he said.

“But after making all these promises, the Congress party is now callously ignoring the welfare of farmers in the State. Rahul Gandhi should be hanged to death in an open marketplace for this deceit. Rahul Gandhi should also be hanged for instigating students and the unemployed during the elections and deceiving them after coming to power in the State,” he said.

Not mincing his words on the Chief Minister’s failure to ensure the welfare of different sections, Rama Rao pointed out the irony in Revanth Reddy promising to make one crore women in Telangana crorepatis after stopping Bathukamma sarees to women, failing to provide the promised monthly assistance of Rs 2,500 to women, and even the one tola of gold assured under the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme.

“In fact, under Revanth Reddy and the Congress rule, women are forced to pledge their mangalsutras to survive,” he said, also asking why the Chief Minister was repeatedly losing his cool and using unparliamentary language. He was even slapping his security personnel in public, he said, asking the Chief Minister’s wife Geetha Reddy to “control” him.

“I fail to understand why even after becoming the Chief Minister, he is still speaking ill of me, cursing me and wishing my death,” Rama Rao said. Pointing out that Chandrashekhar Rao had fought against all odds and fulfilled the long-cherished dream of a separate Telangana, Rama Rao called KCR a hero of the masses and said Revanth Reddy could not even match the dust on Chandrashekhar Rao’s shoes.

“Just after one press conference by the BRS chief, the Chief Minister is getting agitated and is talking all nonsense. At this rate, if Chandrashekhar Rao comes and speaks in the Assembly, the Chief Minister will have a heart attack and die in the House itself,” the BRS working president said.

Reiterating that the people were eager to cast their vote once again in favour of the ‘Car’, he said the rally organised in Jangaon on Tuesday was impressive and proved that Chandrashekhar Rao was all set to return as the Chief Minister of Telangana. Lauding the party cadre, he said that despite threats and pressure exerted by the ruling party, BRS leaders and workers had stood rock solid and worked for the party’s victory in the gram panchayat elections.

“Kadiyam Srihari, who did not participate in the separate Telangana agitation, was offered key posts. Yet, he ditched the BRS and joined hands with Revanth Reddy,” Rama Rao said, pointing out that BRS leaders had got 150 sarpanches elected in Warangal. This reflected the commitment of BRS leaders, he added.
