Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Friday targeted Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for striking a BJP-Congress nexus in Telangana and working against the State’s interests. He questioned the silence of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as well, pointing out that Revanth Reddy had awarded a contract worth crores of rupees in the proposed Future City to BJP MP CM Ramesh from Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing a student convention marking the merger of Telangana Rashtra Vidyarthi Sainik Parishad (TRVSP) with the BRS Vidyarthi (student) wing, Rama Rao said government contracts worth Rs 1,600 crore were awarded to Ramesh for development of roads in the proposed Future City. He said the same MP was involved in raising a Rs.10,000 crore bank loan against 400 acres of Kancha Gachibowli forest lands.

The BRS working president blamed the Congress government for wrecking Telangana’s education sector. He pointed to the unfulfilled promises such as Rs 5 lakh education assurance cards, free scooters for girl students and financial aid for higher education aspirants.

“The Congress promised Rs 5 lakh for PhDs, Rs 3 lakh for PGs, Rs 2 lakh for undergraduates, but not a rupee has been given,” he said, terming the Congress manifesto the biggest fraud of the century.

On job creation, he said not one notification was issued by the Congress government for the two lakh posts promised within a year. However, Revanth Reddy was distributing offer letters for recruitments completed during the BRS regime, he said, warning that voters would deliver their verdict in the upcoming local body elections.

Rama Rao also ridiculed Revanth Reddy for celebrating a letter from Sonia Gandhi, without even reading its content and misleading people as if it was an appreciation letter.

“He cannot even read the letter correctly, yet calls it his ‘Oscar moment.’ He deserves a ‘Bhaskar Award’, not an Oscar for this,” he said, raising doubts over Revanth Reddy’s graduation certificate as the latter was unable to read a letter where Sonia Gandhi had only expressed her inability to attend his presentation on the BC caste census survey in Telangana.

Remembering sacrifices by scores of students and their active role during the Telangana movement, the former Minister said history would not forget the youth of Osmania, Kakatiya, Mahatma Gandhi and other universities, who forced the Congress to grant statehood. He reiterated that Telangana’s future was safest under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s leadership.

Citing development activities by the previous BRS government in erstwhile Nalgonda district, Rama Rao listed out achievements such as three medical colleges, expanded irrigation under Mission Bhagiratha and India’s largest 4,000 MW power project in Damarcherla. He also lauded the Yadadri temple’s transformation as the new pride of Telangana.
