Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao hit out at the Congress government for spending lavishly on events like Bharat Summit 2025, while failing to deliver on its promises to the people of Telangana. He said the Congress government was shameless to claim that the State had no money to fulfill its poll promises, but spent Rs. 29.45 crore for the two-day summit.

Rama Rao questioned the rationale behind spending such a huge amount for the Bharat Summit.

“Congress made 420 promises, including the six guarantees they said would be implemented within 100 days. It is now over 600 days, and there is no sign of delivery,” he remarked.

The BRS working president criticised the State government for extravagant expenses such as Rs 1 lakh per plate food during Miss World banquets and Rs 36,000 per plate during a Congress event in Vemulawada which was reportedly spent from temple funds.

“They even spent Rs 10,000 on each silk dhoti, but cannot provide one decent meal a day to students in schools, gurukuls or universities,” he added.

Rama Rao condemned the ruling Congress for floating tenders worth hundreds of crores for new international schools, while existing government institutions have been left to suffer.

“Telangana’s role model education system during the BRS regime, is now in chaos. This government is ruining the future of students, for it’s political agenda,” he said.
