Hyderabad: The Telangana Junior Doctors Association (TJUDA), representing junior doctors from all 34 government medical colleges in the State, has decided to launch an indefinite statewide strike from June 30.

The TJUDA members on Friday served a strike notice to the Director of Medical Education (DME), stating that despite repeated follow-ups since November 2024, none of their demands have been met by the State government.

The core concern of junior doctors is the chronic delay in disbursement of stipends, despite the State government’s repeated assurances of timely payment. Stipends for PGs, House Surgeons, and Senior Residents have been pending for the past three months, and the junior doctors have been demanding a green channel to ensure the payment of stipends by the 10th of every month.

The State government had released GO Ms No 59, hiking the stipend effective from January 2025, but it has not been implemented. The medicos are demanding the disbursement of arrears pending from January 2025.

The medicos also demanded that the State government address the issue of inadequate infrastructure at government medical colleges, the faculty recruitment calendar, and addressing stipend irregularities in private medical colleges.
