Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao came down heavily on the Congress government for targeting the poor, tribals and farmers under the guise of development. He said the government’s bulldozers were not only razing homes in Hyderabad, but also destroying livelihoods of tribals in remote forest regions.
Rama Rao took to X, questioning the destruction of tribal farmlands in Korsagumpu hamlet in Burgampahad mandal of Bhadradri Kothagudem district and the attack on women who came to protested against the destruction. He said the Congress government was resorting to destruction in the name of development, calling it an inhuman assault on those who have been cultivating the land for years.
“Unable to fulfill its ‘420 promises’, the Congress government is instead demolishing houses, silencing dissent and jailing protestors,” he said, condemning a brutal crackdown on those who dare to question.
The BRS working president said the Congress had shelved its poll promises and instead, made its agenda to destroy the homes of the poor for Musi River beautification in Hyderabad; take over lands of farmers in villages like Lagacherla, Dilawarpur, Pedda Dhanwada, Chargonda and Sirsanagandla in the name of development; and destroy livelihoods of the tribals in remote hamlets citing forest conservation. He urged people of Telangana to wake up and question these brutalities.
In another post, Rama Rao took a swipe at the BJP, and mocked the so-called engineering marvels like the clock tower in Bihar and a 90-degree railway overbridge in Bhopal, which were being ridiculed across the country. He said it was ironic that the BJP, responsible for such absurdities, dared to comment on Telangana’s irrigation projects.
