Hyderabad: BRS working president K T Rama Rao came down heavily on the Congress government over the assault on tribal women by forest officials in Bhadradri Kothagudem district.
According to reports, tribal women from Iravendi village were stripped, beaten and paraded by forest staff after a confrontation on Friday. The incident reportedly occurred when forest officials attempted to dig trenches on Podu lands being cultivated by the tribal families, leading to a heated clash.
Condemning the incident, Rama Rao linked it to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s earlier controversial remarks in the Assembly, where he allegedly spoke about “stripping women” who questioned authority.
Taking to social media platform X, Rama Rao described the Congress administration as a “reign of terror” and accused it of failing to protect the dignity of women in Telangana. He also questioned Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge on their stance regarding women’s safety and respect.
Tribal families from the area also approached Pinapaka MLA Payam Venkateshwarlu seeking justice.
