KU Professor hailing from Adilabad selected as Royal Society of Biology Council fellow
Mamidala Istari, Kakatiya University professor, selected Fellow of Royal Society of Biology for contributions to biology. With 100+ papers, books, patents, and research projects, his achievement brings recognition to Telangana’s academic and scientific community

Adilabad: Dr Mamidala Istari, a professor hailing from Adilabad town and working with Kakatiya University (KU)-Warangal was selected as a fellow of prestigious Royal Society of Biology Council (RSBC) of London for his outstanding contributions to the field of biology, fetching recognition to Telangana. He received an email from the society on Monday.
Professor Istari published over 100 research papers in international publications, authored 22 books and successfully completed 10 research projects so far. He is the recipient of Rapid Grant Young Investigator award from the Centre, American Radio-labeled Young Scientist award and CV Raman Fellowship for Post-Doctoral Research from the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Istari expressed happiness on being selected as a fellow of the RSBC. He claimed that he was the second professor from KU and sixth scholar from Telangana to have been recognized by the society. He was chosen as a member of the RSBC a few years back. He had carried out trial work on a vaccine invented by a university in the United States of America. He achieved 10 patents for his inventions.
The son of a mason, he had earned both post-graduation in zoology and PhD from KU. He had carried out research on the prevalence of HIV. He had schooled, studied intermediate and graduated from Government Degree College-Adilabad.
Istari was congratulated by Professors Prathap Reddy, Ramachandram, OSD Venktaram Reddy and friends and family members from this town on being selected as the fellow from the largest institution in the country.
