Hyderabad: Kushagra Mohan won the Meridian All India Open FIDE-Rated Chess Tournament, finishing with 8.5 points after outwitting top-seeded S. Chidvilas Sai in a high-stakes final round here.

Going into the final round trailing Chidvilas Sai, Kushagra delivered a clutch performance to secure the title outright. Chidvilas Sai finished as the tournament runner-up with 8 points.


In other critical final-round encounters, V. Vignesh Advaith defeated Grandmaster CRG Krishna to climb up the leaderboard, while S. Raviteja scored a vital win over T. Keerthi Rana. Meanwhile, the matches between Akula Pranay and VAV Rajesh, as well as S. Vikramjith and B. Nithik Reddy, both ended in hard-fought draws.

Final Round Results:
S. Chidvilas Sai (8) lost to Kushagra Mohan (8.5); V. Vignesh Advaith (8) bt CRG Krishna (7); Akula Pranay (7.5) drew with VAV Rajesh (7.5); T. Keerthi Rana (7) lost to S. Raviteja (8); S. Vikramjith (7.5) drew with B. Nithik Reddy (7.5).
