Farmer Heerya Naik being taken to hospital in handcuffs.
Sangareddy: Director General of Police (Prisons and Correctional Services) Soumya Mishra suspended jailor Sanjeeva Reddy and suggested the Home Department to initiate departmental action against Superintendent of Sangareddy Central Jail Santosh Roy, holding them responsible for taking Lagacherla farmer Heerya Naik to hospital in handcuffs.
When the video of Heerya Naik went viral, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy ordered an inquiry. Inspector General of Police Satyanarayana carried out the inquiry in the presence of Sangareddy SP Chennuri Rupesh and Vikarabad SP K Narayana Reddy at Sangareddy Jail.
Following a report submitted by the IG, Soumya Mishra initiated action against these two officers.
The Sangareddy jail authorities reportedly informed the Balanagar police under the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate instead of Bomarsaipet in Vikarabad district.
The Balanagar police provided the escort unaware of the sensitivity of the case. Satyanarayana said that further probe is on.
