Lakshmi Manchu stands as solid as a rock. Detractors, hatemongers and trollers, and the continuous chattering of the outside world have no impact on her. She reached a new level of attainment and her aura speaks so much about what she has learnt so far on meditation and spiritual science.
“It is basically magic that happens within our body. We don’t have control over anything in life but you can control your body and thoughts through meditation. The entire vibration of our physical body gets changed. When a person vibrates in higher energy, negativity withers away.
Meditation gives peace that nobody can take away from you. I keep telling my dear ones about it. I have always been bringing the gurus from whom I learnt to the forefront,” she says, adding that she would practise various kinds like Vipassana, Sadguru’s guided meditation, Wayne Dyer, Shakti Gawain, Louise L Hay, and, most recently, she has been a frequent visitor to Dr Newton’s ashram Quantum Life University near Vikarabad.
Here are some ‘Pitta Kathalu’ that she feels are worth telling…
Lakshmi spent valuable time with the cast and crew of Pitta Kathalu, a Netflix Original which is going to release this month. She plays a narcissistic politician called Swaroopakka. “I am impressed with the new lot of young talent. Their dedication, creativity and passion towards craft were unmatched. It was very inspiring for me as well,” she added.
Efforts to turn vegan
Vegetarianism is something she has been fighting out at home. “How can you ask a Rayalaseema girl to switch to veg?,” she laughs. “But meat-eating and meditation don’t sync much. I’ve been fighting it daily at home. It’s a gradual effort to turn vegan. But I tend to observe when we increase energy frequency through meditation everything that we don’t want leaves us,” she says.
“I took workout seriously during the lockdown. I had all the time in the world, so without any excuse, I told myself ‘let me transform my body’. It started there and now my day doesn’t go without workout,” she adds.
Nirvana’s media glare
Lakshmi’s daughter Nirvana has constantly been in public light since the day she was born. Be it Chitti Chilakamma series on YouTube or her achievements in the field of chess, the focus on her is only growing with time. The actor says this overdose of media glare on a young child worries her as a mother.
“But, I also want her to be comfortable before the media. There’s no denying it. There was no such attention when we were young growing up in Chennai. We grew up with a protective shield of our parents. But, I want Nirvana to embrace who she is and what she is, and still be humble and have humility. Her goodness, kindness and generosity, and her smile will always be there. That makes her pretty,” she shared.
Bonding with dad
For Lakshmi, the pandemic only left some lifetime memories with her father, veteran actor Mohan Babu. “I was initially scared because dad (Mohan Babu) would wake me up early in the morning. He wears discipline and punctuality on his sleeves. And his anger, love and affection only made our relationship stronger.
This was the longest period I spent with dad and mom after college. It was a year of self-realisation for me. And for New Year, I went on a vacation to the Maldives and also had darshan of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala. I already feel like I had a beautiful start — I’ve Pitta Kathalu to tell audiences, and everything falling in place,” she signs off.
