Land grabber arrested for threatening and abusing Dalits in Adilabad

Adilabad: A man was arrested on Tuesday for grabbing land from the poor by producing fake land titles, threatening the public, and abusing weaker sections.
Adilabad DSP L Jeevan Reddy said Ushkem Raghupathi was apprehended for occupying lands of the poor by submitting forged documents and threatening people. A case under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, was also registered against him for abusing Dalits.
Police acted against Raghupathi following a complaint from Ere Nadipi Ganganna of Mavala, who alleged that Raghupathi mortgaged his land six years ago. Raghupathi threatened to kill Ganganna by crushing him with a tractor when he raised an objection. A rowdy-sheet was already opened against Raghupathi at Mavala police station.
Seven held for gambling in Asifabad
Meanwhile, seven persons were arrested for allegedly indulging in gambling on the outskirts of Bareguda village in Kagaznagar mandal on Tuesday.
Kagaznagar Rural Sub-Inspector Sandeep said that the seven had been nabbed while they were gambling. A case has been registered against them and investigations are underway. Stern action will be taken against those who engage in unlawful activities, he warned.
