Hyderabad: A plasma-based sterilising machine worth over Rs 1 crore meant to clean medical devices was installed at the Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute here on Tuesday.
The sterilising machine was inaugurated by Nandamuri Balakrishna, chairman of the hospital and institute.
The sterilising machine called ASP Sterad 100 NX is a hydrogen peroxide-based low-temperature sterilisation machine that can safely sterilise medical instruments and materials without leaving toxic residue.
The machine will be employed to sterilise medical instruments that are used to conduct tests and surgeries of cancer patients in the hospital.
“The sterilising machine has been imported from the USA and is the first in the two Telugu-speaking States. It will be very useful to control 100 percent infectious transmission between patents while reusing the medical instruments. The low turnaround time of the machine will allow more patients to use medical instruments in a particular time,” Balakrishna said.
