Hyderabad: The CPI and CPI (M), allies of the Congress, are also finding fault with the State government over different issues, especially HYDRAA, Musi demolitions and crop loan waiver.
CPI MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao wanted the government to desist from demolishing the houses of the poor. The MLA had visited Ameenpur, Patelguda and BSR Colony, where HYDRAA had demolished houses on Wednesday.
CPI was not against HYDRAA demolishing villas and farm houses owned by influential people but it strongly opposes demolishing poor people’s houses, he said.
Though they were not in FTL or buffer zones, about 26 houses, including the ones in which housewarming ceremony was performed just a few days back, were demolished. There have been land transactions here since 40 years and Encumbrance Certificates were available with registration offices, he said.
“If HYDRAA claims these houses are in government lands, then the State government can regularize them under GOMs 58 and 59,” Sambasiva Rao said, adding owners, who purchase houses or lands from builders and developers, they should be compensated.
Similarly, former CPI MLA Chada Venkat Reddy said with terms and conditions like insistence on white ration cards, being imposed for crop loan waiver, many farmers were deprived of the benefits.
Many farmers’ loans along with interest component had extended the ceiling limit of Rs.2 lakh. This apart, with the conditions imposed by the State government, the banks were also not sharing the crop loan details with the government correctly, he said.
The CPI (M) State unit took strong objection over the State government for demolishing the houses of poor in different areas along the River Musi.
People were worried and feared and the government should take decisions in haste. Saving environment was welcomed but tourism development does not fulfill the purpose, said CPM State Secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram.
Musi riverbed residents’ health was affected due to the release of pharma wastes and other industrial trash. The government should focus on addressing these issues on priority basis and refrain from demolishing the houses of the poor, he said, adding that suggestions should be sought from all political parties, intellectuals and other sections over the issue.
