Left parties insist on Musi development without affecting poor
Without sharing the Musi Riverfront Development’s detailed project report in the public domain, demolishing houses was undemocratic, said CPM City Secretary M Srinivas.
Hyderabad: Left parties and public organizations demanded the government to take up the Musi Riverfront development project without affecting the poor and pointed out the contradictory statements being made by officials and elected public representatives.
At a roundtable organised at Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram here on Tuesday, speakers stressed that for tourism development and corporate companies business interests, demolishing poor people houses was objectionable. Without sharing the Musi Riverfront Development’s detailed project report in the public domain, demolishing houses was undemocratic, said CPM City Secretary M Srinivas.
Similarly, other speakers pointed out that while Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka assured that structures in buffer zone would not be touched, MAUD Principal Secretary Dana Kishore said 50 metres would be identified as buffer zone and acquisition would be taken up accordingly. These contradictory statements by officials and Deputy Chief Minister were leaving the people tense and worried, they said.
Members from Akhila Bharata Mahila Sangham, CPI ML New Democracy, Human Rights Forum and other organisations shared their views.
