Kothagudem: Leaders of Left parties and people’s organisations demanded a judicial probe into the encounter that took place in Maredumilli forests in ASR district of Andhra Pradesh recently.

CPI (ML) New Democracy State secretary Avunuri Madhu, CPI (ML) Mass Line district secretary Mudda Bhiksham, CPI (M) urban secretary Likki Balaraju, TJS State secretary Mallela Ramanatham, district president S Upender Rao, TPF district secretary E Prashanth, State convener S Nageswara Rao, POW district president Adi Lakshmi and AIDWA district secretary Lakshmi along with activists staged a protest here on Saturday against the encounter.

Speaking to the media, the leaders alleged that the BJP government at the Centre was acting in a fascist manner in favour of capitalists and corporate forces. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were shedding the blood of Maoists to allow Adani and Ambani companies to loot mineral resources in Central India.

The Centre was conspiring to drive tribals out of their villages. Intellectuals and human rights organisations were demanding that the Centre stop Operation Kagar and hold peace talks with the Maoist party. The new Forest Conservation Rules 2022 should be repealed, they said.

CPI (ML) New Democracy leader Gouni Nageswara Rao, Tupakula Nageshwar Rao, Kalti Venkateswarlu, Sanjeev Repakula, Srinivas Valloju, Devadanam, Tulasiram and others were present.
