Medak: The carcass of a leopard was found in Khajapur forest area in Chinna Shankarampet Mandal on Tuesday afternoon. It appeared that the seven to eight year old leopard died some three to four days ago. Local cattle rearers noticed the carcass floating in the water, and informed the forest officials.
Since the forest officials found a couple of porcupine quill stabs on its body, the forest officials believe the leopard and porcupine may have had a fight. They did not find any injuries on its body except quil stabs. However, they did not come to a final conclusion.
Speaking to news reporters, DFO Gnyaneshwar said they have asked the veterinary department staff to the site to collect the organs after autopsy. They have been sent to a lab for further investigation, which will help them establish the cause of the death. The body has been buried in the same place.
A case has been registered. FRO Ramayampet Naziya Thabussum and others were present.
