Leopard scare grips villagers around Telangana's Mahabubnagar
Medak: A leopard scare gripped the villagers of Ramayampet as a calf was killed by a leopard at Lakshmapur village on Wednesday night.
A farmer Dasari Yellaiah had kept his cattle in a shed on the outskirts of the village on Wednesday. When he returned to the shed on Thursday, he found the half eaten carcass of one of the calves. He immediately called forest and police officials.
Forest officials, who confirmed it was a leopard behind the attack, suggested that the villagers not venture into the forest area until the leopard retreats deep into the forest.
Officials also asked the villagers not to move alone in the agriculture fields located on the forest fringe.
