‘Lovers’ make suicide bid in Mancherial
The victim, Srikanth allegedly deserted his wife two months ago and was staying at Kannepalli while Nirmala was residing at her parent’s house along with her son after reportedly deserting her husband
Mancherial: A 25-year-old daily wager Srikanth and his friend Nirmala (22), both married to different persons, attempted suicide by consuming pesticide at the Kannepalli mandal headquarters on Sunday after their family members allegedly turned down their marriage proposal.
Srikanth allegedly deserted his wife two months ago and was staying at Kannepalli while Nirmala was residing at her parent’s house along with her son in the mandal headquarters after reportedly deserting her husband in Peddapalli.
Srikanth reportedly met Nirmala at a Meeseva centre in the village a few weeks ago and since then they were touch with each other. As Srikanth and Nirmala decided to marry each other, they brought the matter to the notice of their family members, who rejected their proposal.
The family members did not give their consent as Srikanth and Nirmala were yet to sort out their divorce issues with their respective spouses. Dejected over this, Srikanth and Nirmala attempted suicide by consuming pesticide. On seeing them in an unconscious state, villagers rushed them to hospital in Mancherial where their condition is said to be stable.
