Hyderabad: National award-winning Hindustani classical vocalist Mahesh Kale is set to perform in a concert titled ‘Swarsandhya’ in Hyderabad on January 17 at 6.30 pm at Shilpakala Vedika, Hitec City.
‘Swarsandhya’ is a spiritual and immersive concert experience that showcases abhangs, raag sangeet, natya sangeet, and Mahesh Kale’s own soulful compositions.
Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Mahesh Kale made the unconventional decision to leave a thriving engineering career in Silicon Valley to dedicate himself entirely to pursuing Indian classical music.
A disciple of the legendary Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki, Mahesh Kale is known for his nuanced command over Hindustani classical, Natya Sangeet, and devotional music. He was awarded the 63rd National Film Award for Best Playback Singer for the Marathi film ‘Katyar Kaljat Ghusali’, and has been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the India Independence Day celebrations in San Jose, California.
Through his performances, his San Francisco-based Mahesh Kale School of Music (MKSM), and collaborations with stalwarts like the late Ustad Zakir Hussain, Aruna Sairam, Stanley Jordan, and Trilok Gurtu, Mahesh Kale continues to carry the legacy of Indian classical music to newer audiences across the world.
