Hyderabad: Justice NV Shravan Kumar of the Telangana High Court on Monday directed Director General of Police (DGP), Maheshwaram DCP, and the Station House Officer (SHO) of Maheshwaram Police Station to inform the Court about further action taken on communication received from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding the alleged illegal transfer of government land in Survey Nos. 181 and 182 at Nagaram village in Maheshwaram mandal of Ranga Reddy district.
The direction came during the hearing of a petition filed by Dastagiri Sharif, who claimed ownership rights over the land in Survey No. 181 and alleged that the police had failed to act on the information provided by the ED. The petitioner’s counsel submitted that despite the ED’s detailed communication dated February 14, 2024, highlighting serious irregularities including tampering of revenue records and creation of false documents, the local police had not initiated any follow-up investigation or disclosed their position on the matter.
It was further submitted that the ED’s preliminary probe had revealed a criminal conspiracy involving manipulation of official records and fraudulent transfer of land, following which the agency had requested the State police to carry out a deeper investigation and take appropriate legal action against the persons involved.
However, as there was no response or visible action from the police even after several representations, the petitioner approached the High Court seeking intervention.
After hearing the submissions, Justice Shravan Kumar observed that the matter involved serious allegations of forgery and illegal land transactions, and directed the DGP, Maheshwaram DCP, and SHO to file their response within one week explaining the steps taken pursuant to the ED’s communication. The Court posted the matter for further hearing after a week.
