Hyderabad: Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation on Thursday launched a drive against unauthorised constructions in Uppal, Kapra and L B Nagar zones, following a similar initiative by Cyberabad Municipal Corporation after two people died in Anjaiah Nagar at Gachibowli on August 22.

Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation officials demolished unauthorised floors, rooms, sheds and encroachments across Uppal, Kapra and LB Nagar zones as part of continuing enforcement of sanctioned building plans and protection of parking and public spaces, according to a press release.

In Uppal, rooms built by converting stilt-floor parking space at Beerappa/Prashanthi Nagar Colony, Road No. 2, were demolished. Officials also removed an unauthorised balcony encroaching towards the road.

An unauthorised commercial shed built without permission at Rampally in Ghatkesar Circle was removed. In Dharani Colony, Medipally village, under Boduppal Circle, officials dismantled centring erected for an unauthorised penthouse and halted further construction. Another unauthorised shed was removed from Gayatri Hills Colony, Miyapur village, in Boduppal Circle.

In Kapra Circle, officials demolished unauthorised rooms constructed in the stilt-floor parking area of Plot 236/C at Padmashali Township, AS Rao Nagar. They said the space must be used for parking in accordance with the approved building plan to prevent inconvenience to residents and ensure adequate parking.

In LB Nagar Zone, unauthorised third and fourth floors of a building in Lalitha Nagar and Gaddiannaram, Saroornagar, were demolished, along with rooms constructed in its stilt-floor parking area. Officials also demolished unauthorised third and fourth floors of a building in Maitri Nagar Colony under LB Nagar Circle.

Building owners and developers were advised to follow municipal permissions and sanctioned plans. Officials said enforcement would continue to protect parking and public spaces, curb road encroachments and ensure orderly urban development, according to the press release.
