Malkajgiri civic panel clears drainage, lake restoration projects
The Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation's Standing Committee has approved a series of infrastructure and environmental projects, including drainage network upgrades, stormwater drain construction and lake restoration works.

Hyderabad: Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation’s Standing Committee on Saturday reviewed and cleared key proposals on drainage, lake restoration, sanitation, waste management, biodiversity, public amenities and road development.
The key approvals included the rebuilding of the drainage network and nala development from Pedda Cheruvu, the construction of a stormwater drain from Nasin Cheruvu to Komativani Kunta, and lake restoration proposals. These included the administrative sanction of Rs 20 crore for the integrated development of Chintal Cheruvu in Boduppal Circle and Rs 40 crore for the comprehensive development of Rampally Cheruvu in Ghatkesar Circle, according to a press release.
The committee also approved the establishment of a Biodiversity Management Committee (BMC) to conserve biological resources, promote sustainable use, ensure fair benefit-sharing, and prepare and maintain the People’s Biodiversity Register..
Other proposals approved by the committee included Rs 285 lakh for a dog park in an open space at Sainikpuri and the development of a multipurpose outdoor sports complex in Bandabavi, also approved.
