Hyderabad: A farmer from Shankerpally in Rangareddy, who was allegedly stalking a BTech student, was arrested by the Rachakonda cybercrime police on Wednesday.
According to the police, Jangampeta Prasad Reddy (28) had collected the pictures of the woman from her when they were friends. In March 2019, Prasad Reddy proposed to her, after which she started avoiding him.
Early this month, Prasad Reddy started harassing the woman and blackmailed her saying that if she did not accept his proposal, he would cut his wrist and end his life.
“He also threatened that he would morph her pictures and circulate on social media platforms,” said S Harinath, ACP, Cybercrime, Rachakonda.
Based on a complaint from the victim, the police registered a case and arrested Prasad Reddy. He was produced before court and remanded.
