Man booked for casteist remarks during Ambedkar procession in Adilabad
A man in Adilabad was booked for caste-based abuse during a procession marking Dr BR Ambedkar’s death anniversary in Echoda mandal. Police registered a case under the SC, ST (Prevention of) Atrocities Act.

Adilabad: A man was on Sunday booked for allegedly abusing people on the basis of their caste while they were participating in a procession taken out to mark the death anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar in Echoda mandal centre on Saturday night.
Police said that a case was registered against Jangili Lasmaiah under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act for abusing the participants during the procession taken out at 8 pm. Investigations are underway.
Meanwhile, five persons were booked on the charges of forcibly closing commercial establishments in Echoda mandal headquarters on Saturday night, following the procession. Investigations were initiated. None will be spared if they disturbed the law and order, police officials cautioned, advising the public to approach them through the Dial 100 service.
