Adilabad: A doctor working at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) was arrested on charges of sexually harassing a woman in Echoda mandal centre on Tuesday evening.
According to police, Syed Asim (45), a resident of Echoda mandal centre, allegedly harassed a woman from the same locality over the past four months under the pretext of marrying her. He was taken into custody following a complaint lodged by the woman’s father, Rehman.
In his complaint, Rehman stated that Asim had been harassing his daughter by making public claims about marrying her, despite her unwillingness. He said the doctor’s conduct had deeply disturbed his daughter and prevented the family from seeking a marriage alliance for her. He also accused Asim of stalking her for the past two weeks.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
