Hyderabad: The Banjara Hills police have registered a case against a man for allegedly cheating a Group-I aspirant of Rs 7 lakh by promising to secure him a government job through political connections.
The complainant, from Kothapet, alleged that the suspect, identified as Syed Haider Hussain, gained his trust by claiming strong political links and sought money to arrange a Group-I post.
Acting on the assurance, Abhiram reportedly paid Rs 6 lakh in instalments in 2023 and another Rs 1 lakh in July 2025.
When the suspect later demanded additional money and failed to return the amount already taken, the victim sought a refund. He then allegedly stopped responding and issued threats instead.
Based on the complaint, the police booked a case of cheating and criminal intimidation and are investigating.
