Hyderabad: A man was allegedly confined, threatened and thrashed by his friend, who reportedly is a financier at Petbasheerabad in Medchal-Malkajgiri district.
According to the police, Yashwanth had borrowed a hand loan of Rs 5 lakh from his friend Srinath Reddy, a financier, for organising a New Year 2025 event at Narsingi in December last year.
Yashwanth had failed to repay the money even after repeated reminders from Srinath Reddy. Following which, on March 14, Srinath Reddy caught Yashwanth, confined and thrashed him along with his associates with liquor bottles, hockey sticks and belts at the open ground near the Bajaj showroom.
Based on a missing complaint from Yaswanth’s mother, the Petbasheerabad police booked a case for illegal confinement and assault against Srinath Reddy and others.
Yashwanth’s mother alleged Srinath Reddy was running illegal finance business and harassing people by collecting higher interest rates.”We have received counter complaints and booked counter cases against both the parties on the incident. Based on further investigation, necessary action will be taken,” said K Vijaya Vardhan, Inspector Petbasheerabad.
