Akash reportedly slipped into depression and hanged himself to the ceiling fan in the room

Hyderabad: An electrician who is suspected to have lost Rs 7,500 to cyber fraudsters died by suicide at a hostel in Vanasthalipuram on Saturday night.

Valki Akash (22) a native of Nalgonda district and a resident of MSR Boys Hostel at Vanasthalipuram, worked as an electrician. On Saturday night, he called his mother over phone and told that an amount of Rs 7,500 was debited from his e-wallet account. His mother asked Akash, not to get worried and told that the issue would be sorted out and asked him to seek help of some friends.

On Sunday morning, the Akash’s mother called him but he did not answer the phone. She then alerted the other friends of Akash who informed that he had committed suicide. “Akash reportedly slipped into depression and in the night hanged himself to the ceiling fan in the room,” said Vanasthalipuram sub inspector, V Ravi.

A case is registered. The police suspect some cyber fraudsters might have conned Akash and got the money transferred.
