Kamareddy: A man from Maharashtra was arrested on charges of stealing a gold chain from a woman by threatening to kill her in Baramgadi village on Monday. Banswada DSP B Vittal Reddy said that Hegdole Hanmanth Vittal of Nanded was apprehended for snatching the gold chain of Anushabai of the village on December 2. He was detained while moving suspiciously during a vehicle check at Beerkur mandal headquarters on Sunday.
On interrogation, Hanmanth confessed to committing the crime under the guise of offering a lift to the woman. He admitted to targeting lone women in different parts of the district. He revealed that he was snatching gold chains to lead a luxurious lifestyle.
SP Rajesh Chandra commended Banswada Rural Inspector Thirupathaiah, Beerkur SI M Mahender and their staff for nabbing the chain snatcher.
