Man held for opium poppy cultivation in Rangareddy’s Kandukur
A case under sections of the NDPS Act was booked and investigation is on.

Hyderabad: The Kandukur police on Friday arrested one person on charges of illegally cultivating opium poppy at Lemur village in Kandukur mandal of Rangareddy district.
Police said D. Chennakeshavaulu (45), was cultivating the banned crop in his village with the help of one D. Venkataramana alias Nagaraju (43). The duo then sold the opium poppy straw to customers in Hyderabad, Bengaluru and surroundings.
Police, who said the two were running an interstate opium poppy racket, seized 20 bags, weighing about 400 kilos, of poppy straw and other material worth Rs 20 lakh and arrested Chennakeshavulu. A case under sections of the NDPS Act was booked and investigation is on.
Nagaraju, who is the prime suspect in the case, was already arrested by the Special Enforcement Bureau of Madanapally of Chittoor on March 16.
